Creativity

  • We love tackling difficult problems, either where there is no current solution or one that needs improving. Whether it’s blue sky thinking or solving within constraints, we find workable solutions using whatever works best.

  • We learn the most through experimentation, whether through thought, simulation, or field testing. Trialling and improving ideas through contact with the real world leads to robust solutions.

  • Sometimes an ok idea in one domain can be revolutionary in another. We keep abreast of developments in numerous fields in order to see how we could apply them in new areas.

Integrity

  • We are a privately held company with no commitments, formal or otherwise, that compromise our ability to deliver independent advice and appraisals to our customers.

  • We don't sell products so we are not tied into offering a particular suite of technologies. The fields of AI and autonomous systems are also continuously evolving so tying ourselves to specific technologies at the exclusion of others does not make good technical or commercial sense.

  • Working in the AI and autonomy field exposes us to a lot of hype that isn't always backed up by real performance. We need to be better than that. Origami Labs exists to help push forward the practical application of advanced technology, this requires acknowledging failure and accurately characterising success. We will always delivery honest appraisals of technology and advice that we sincerely believe in.

Collaboration

  • We know that we don't have all the answers, and we certainly don't have all the means. Answering complex problems often requires looking at them from numerous angles, and we always welcome a new viewpoint. If you think we can solve a problem better together then let us know!

  • Over the years our team have managed large contracts, technically led complex R&D programmes, undertaken international field trials, and managed teams across government, industry, and academia. We're comfortable taking the lead on projects where we can add value, and due to our size would always be a thin prime.
